In a global context marked by a resurgence of racist, xenophobic, and hateful rhetoric, such gatherings cannot be trivialized. They constitute a worrying signal for Quebec and Canadian society as a whole. The rise of far-right ideologies worldwide creates fertile ground for the normalization of intolerance, discrimination, and the exclusion of already vulnerable groups.
LAKAY reminds us that Quebec was built on values of respect, openness, and living together. Demonstrations promoting racial superiority directly contradict these fundamental principles and fuel a social climate that can lead to acts of hatred, intimidation, and even violence.
We also urge political leaders to exercise caution and responsibility in their public pronouncements.
