Become a volunteer
More than 100 volunteers dedicate their time to LAKAY each year. Without them, the Repentigny World Carnival, Black History Month, or the competition awards ceremony wouldn't happen. My pen against racism would not take place.
LAKAY is a non-profit organization founded in 2007. All our activities are free for the public. Whether you have a few hours a year or a few hours a week, your help counts.
Where can you help?
- Events : welcoming the public, logistics, setup and dismantling during the Carnival (more than 11,000 participants) and activities of Black History Month.
- My Pen Against Racism Competition : support for the organization of the awards ceremony.
- Reception and support : support to the team at the Repentigny office.
- Communication : photography, video, social media, writing and translation.
- Administrative support : data entry, filing, preparing shipments.
What you gain from it
- A hands-on experience in a committed community organization.
- Meetings with people from all backgrounds.
- A certificate of volunteering upon request (useful for school, college or a CV).
