This Saturday, August 1st, a delegation from the Black community of Lanaudi\u00e8re was warmly welcomed to Nitaskinan, the ancestral territory of the Atikamekw Nehirowisiw Nation, for a day dedicated to sharing and friendship.<\/p>\n<p>A highlight of the visit was when most members of the delegation participated in a powwow alongside the First Nation. To the beat of drums, surrounded by dancers dressed in their finest traditional attire\u2014bell dresses, feathered headdresses, and beaded jewelry\u2014the visitors discovered the richness and vitality of Atikamekw culture. It was a moment of shared emotion and pride.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the festivities, the day provided an opportunity for profound exchanges. The two communities discussed the need to work together against the discrimination they both experience. From these conversations emerged a shared realization: their struggles converge, and unity is strength.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00abThis day will remain etched in our hearts. We came as guests and we leave as friends.
